Hollyhocks speedy germination.

Posted by Rebecca Flynn on Thursday, August 2, 2012 In : Hollyhock Chater's Double Mix
Well, as we've planted mainly vegetables out the back, next year we have got to start thinking about flowers for the front garden, as all we have is grass out there, and the path! So I picked up a packet of Hollyhocks, Chater's Double Mix variety. I'm not particularly keen on them, but our local shop was selling them cheap, so I thought why not.
We sowed them on Wednesday, 25th July, 2012 and the packet said 25 days to germinate. We put the seeds is individual pots, and they went strai...

We've been busy!

Posted by Rebecca Flynn on Monday, July 30, 2012 In : Garden Design
Well, as you may have noticed, there are a couple of weeks been skipped. For this I do apologise, but we have had such a busy few weeks redesigning the garden!
We needed to do something about it, so I decided to lift all the slabs, and re-lay them properly. It was a long job, and hard work, but we managed it in the end, and added a few fence pieces, to make it look a little more decent. So now, instead of looking at this....

we have something a bit more prettier to look at......

A job well done ...

Drowned Seedlings!

Posted by Rebecca Flynn on Saturday, June 30, 2012 In : Weather
Well, isn't that just typical! I just put all the seedlings out to harden off for the first time, and within 5 minutes it started to hail and rain heavily! Well, I have decided to keep the site to updating once a week, as it will start getting confusing, as everything is happening at different times, so it will either be a Saturday or Sunday evening, and then will do a status on the Facebook page to say it's been updated.
My trouble is I keep taking photos of every little change! And I mean just little things, like a leaf growing or one extra seed germinating and sprouting, and seeing as these changes are daily, it will eat up a lot of my picture...

Florian Strawberries first night out!

Posted by Rebecca Flynn on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 In : Florian Strawberry
So, I decided to start hardening off my biggest Florian Strawberry plant last night, along with an Alicante Tomato Plant, and would you believe I was actually lying in bed worrying about them! LOL
First thing I did this morning was pop out to see if they had survived! They don't look like they took any damage from the wind.

They are still standing for now!

Hello and welcome!

Posted by Rebecca Flynn on Monday, June 4, 2012 In : Weather
Well, seeing as we decided to start this website up a month AFTER sowing our first seeds, I am frantically trying to upload pictures and fill in the gaps between 10th May 2012 and now (4th June 2012). The weather here has been nothing but rain for the last 3 days, so we haven't been able to get into the garden much, to our dissapointment. But it's 7.40pm, and the sun is just poking through the grey clouds, so hopefully, the weather is going to pick up again. I will continue to bring all the p...
